    Great coat

I couldn't be happier with this coat. Wore it for the first time last night and it kept me nice and warm on a very cold night. Love the fit, length, and color. Got compliments.

Jacket is a true fit. I wear a small but purchased a medium according to other reviews. I might wear a fleece underneath but it'll still be too big. I recommend buying your correct size. One of the best things about selecting this jacket is that a photo of the inner layout is available, so I knew exactly what I was getting. I love that there's an MP3 player pocket and a cell phone pocket (not that I'd use it for an MP3 player, but a woman can never have too many pockets). The quality of the jacket is great--it keeps out the wind out, but I still have yet to test out the snow and rain. Nice and thick, without being too heavy. This is my second Free Country jacket, and I'm a firm believer in the brand and quality that the company puts out. I highly recommend the brand and this particular jacket to anyone in the market for a heavy-weight down. Btw, I just purchased a Crescent Fleece for my mom who's coming to visit and I know she's gonna love it!

great purple color/sleeves have a warm cuff - lots of good features. the coat is thinner than other down coats. i don't know if that's what "power down" means. i haven't had a chance to wear it, so hope it lives up to the (warm) name!

    Warm, comfortable, stylish AND cheap!

I'm moving to a cold climate for college that gets heaps of snow and often stays at a pleasant -20 degrees during the later fall and "spring" semesters. I can tell that this jacket is of equal to or even better quality than any of my previous cold weather jackets. Wish I had found this sooner. It is so comfortable and soft on the inside, and also very flexible while providing immediate heat. I put it on and very quickly began to feel the warmth being sealed inside; I just can't believe how cozy it is! It also has a flattering fit and a convenient detachable hood. I seriously did not want to take it off. It's insulated with down, with ridiculously soft built-in hand warmers. At the risk of sounding like a salesperson, you do not want to pass this up for the unbeatable price! I am a firm believer in the quality of Freecountry. I suggest going up a size if you plan to layer it with a thick fleece, since it is fitted it may not zip. However, if you plan to wear just a sweater underneath it should be just fine. I bought a medium, and the large would have been way too big, especially in the back and arms. I bought the purple moon and its color is rich and beautiful. Overall I would tell anyone who is looking for warmth, comfort, functionality, style and a bargain to purchase this jacket. You won't be disappointed.

    Great jacket, poor fit

I ordered this jacket in a medium for my daughter who is headed off to college in MA. She is 5'5" but the sleeves were uncomfortably short and the body very tight. It was a great jacket though, and I am planning on ordering her the exact same one but two sizes up. We both liked the thumb hole and the soft interior.

I love that this warm jacket is lightweight for winter; my other winter jacket from another brand was too heavy! It is also fitted in at the waist with the adjustable waist straps, so I can look feminine without looking puffed up & bulky. It would be a perfect winter jacket if the front pockets had zippers instead of metal closures! Thanks!

    Fabulous jacket

Just received this jacket and it is incredibly well made. I tried it on and immediately over-heated -- not a bad thing in a down jacket! But I have to exchange it for a Large. I am 5' 4" and 120 pounds, athletic build, and there was not enough room in the shoulders, not could I zip it up over a thin fleece jacket. Hopefully that will help someone trying to choose a size. Can't wait to get my new one.

    Very Happy.

For the price, this coat is a STEAL (and I was utterly shocked by the shipping speed. I don't get things from within my own state that quickly!). I was looking to replace a 4-in-1 jacket from a different company, which fit in the shoulders and bust, but was much too large for me everywhere else. I have a V-shaped torso - much larger across the shoulders and bust, with very small hips (I wear a L-XL top, and an XS-S bottom), so I knew I was looking for something with either some kind of tie or cinch at the waist. My previous coat didn't have this feature and I lost a lot of warmth due to a draft coming up from underneath. This coat feels very warm - putting it on for 5 minutes, I definitely started to overheat in the house, so I think it's going to be very good for me when winter comes around. I do wish the waist cinched a bit more - there are only two snaps, so there is not much of a difference between one cinch setting and the next. That's the primary reason I removed a star. It will still avoid most of the draftiness of normal coats for me, but another snap or two, or a pull-able strap (like a fabric belt or guitar strap) would have made this coat much better for me. I have a large bust and shoulders, and long arms for my height (I'm 5'4), so I do normally go for an XL in coats to get extra room in the bust and length in the arms, but I decided to go by the size chart in this case, and that worked out just fine for me. The sleeves are long enough, and my shoulders don't feel unnecessarily constricted. It's a tiny bit snug in the bust (I'm a 30GG - my bust measures about 40-40.5 inches.). Overall, this fits alright in the bust. It zips up fine, but when I move my arms, the snaps do pull slightly, so if you have a 41 inch bust, you might be happier in an XL than a L. I do hope Free Country continues to make this coat, or other heavyweight coats like it, with the ability to cinch in at the waist, because it is a feature someone with my body type really can't go without (coats that lack waist cinching are too drafty), and while it's not perfect, I am still extremely happy with it.
