Free Country Volunteers at Fresh Air Fund Campsite
NEW YORK – June 20, 2022
On June 2, 2022, the Free Country team embarked on a trip to The Fresh Air Fund’s campsite in Fishkill, NY to help prepare their campus for their annual Summer Program. The Fresh Air Fund is a not-for-profit youth development organization that provides free life-changing summer experiences in the outdoors to children from New York City’s underserved communities.
Every summer, campers aged 8-15 can take part in swimming lessons, go hiking, play sports, and learn new skills in classes like guitar, arts and crafts, outdoor adventure, photography and coding. With nature as their classroom, campers get to learn about the environment while exploring in the outdoors. They return home with more confidence, new talents and new friends.
Around 40 Free Country teammates visited the Sharpe Reservation, a more than 2,000 acre property in Fishkill, NY. With nature trails, lakes and streams, a model farm and planetarium, Sharpe Reservation is just two hours from New York City.
The Free Country team prepared the summer camp by painting the camp facilities and even did some gardening along with other activities! In support and partnership of the Fresh Air Fund, Free Country has volunteered with them for several years to further invest in the city’s children who will get the chance to experience and develop love of the outdoors.
To help raise funds, Free Country launched a donation initiative on June 1, 2022, for customers to donate the amount of their choice to the Fresh Air Fund when buying online at FreeCountry.com with Free Country matching customers’ donations up to $25,000.
In addition to this partnership, Free Country will continue celebrating National Great Outdoors Month with customer giveaways every week in June. Every Monday, a customer who made a purchase during the week before will randomly be selected to win a $150 gift card. Every weekend, there will also be two $100 gift card giveaways on Instagram.
